Hammond River Annual General Meeting

Our annual general meeting is being planned for late February 2012, with the date to be announced soon. We`ll provide an update as soon as the schedule is decided.

Schedule of Events

Kayak Fishing Tournament July 16 - 17

We have a kayak fishing tournament planned on the lower Hammond River this summer (2011).  JC Cormier, is organizing the event again, with a few changes from last year's successful event. This year's tournament will take place July 16 and 17. The event has a different focus: the key to winning is the most individual species, not the size or quantity of fish. The event will be open to canoes and other non-motorized craft, and will emphasize live release. The event is sponsored by HRAA and the Canadian Kayak Anglers. First prize, donated by the CKA, is a fishing kayak!

We will be adding updated rules and registration forms to our website on our downloads page.

For more information regarding this event please see www.canadiankayakanglers.com

The official rules for the tournament are now available. Go to http://www.transientangler.com and click on the tab titled "cka cross canada tour". On the drop down menu, select the Hammond River Classic. On the left you will see official rules. Click on that and download! Maps of the area and hotspots are also available on this page.

Summer Employment and Experience Development (SEED) Program

Just a reminder that students should be aware of the SEED program, and register for possible summer employment through the NB Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour. The HRAA hires students for our summer programs via SEED. Any students now in Grade 12, and planning to attend university in the fall of 2011 may be eligible (as well as students currently attending university). But, there have been some program changes and students wishing to work with the HRAA need to send us a resume, as well as registering on-line with SEED. We'll send more reminders when the application deadlines are approaching.

Fish 'n' Jam every Wednesday Evening at 7pm

The HRAA Fish 'n' Jam continues every Wednesday evening at 7pm. It's a great way for new members to get involved with our programs. Many thanks to Roy Macmillan for his continued efforts to make this event a success. And, our fly-tyers are back at the vice again, preparing for next year's season.  Here's a good chance to meet with local tyers and learn more about the art of fly tying. This is an evening of local musical talent, and fly-tying. Hope to see you there!

Hello Friends of the St. John River!
You're invited to the first of an up-coming series of sessions in communities along the St. John River. The first session will take place 7 p.m. Monday Nov. 14 at the Hammond River Angling Association Building, 10 Porter Road in Nauwigewauk. Sponsored by the NB Conservation Council, Canadian Rivers Institute and WWF Canada, the session will be an opportunity for you to be part of a discussion about the newly released State of the Environment Report on the river. It will give you a chance to share your knowledge of the river, and to connect with each other to help make future positive changes throughout the system.
