Q: What does camp cost?

A: Nature Camp is $200.00 per week. We offer a $25.00 discount for siblings. 

 

Q: What is the cancellation policy?

A: Cancellation Policy: A $50 Administration Fee will be retained for all cancellations. You can cancel your registration to obtain a refund if cancelled at least 4 weeks before the date registered. Your payment is non-refundable if cancelled within the 4 weeks before the date registered. Exceptions will be made at the discretion of the Office Manager.

Q: Is there a different theme/program for each week?

A: Yes, we have a different theme for each week. We run the same schedule for each week that includes core activities mixed with theme-based activities. Campers who attend multiple weeks will have a different experience every time.

 

Q: What are the core activities?

A: Nature Camp's core activities are fishing, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, fly tying, field games & nature crafts.

 

Q: What does a daily schedule look like?

 A: 8:00am - 9:00am Drop-off / field games

9:00am - 10:00am Theme-based activity

10:00am - 10:15am Snack time

10:15am - 11:00am Theme-based activity

11:00am - 12:00pm Core activity

12:00pm - 1:00pm Lunch

1:00pm - 2:00pm Core activity

2:00pm - 3:00pm Core activity

3:00pm - 3:15pm snack

Q: What are your Drop-off and Pick-up times?

A: Drop-off starts at 8am and goes until 9am.

Pick up time begins at 4pm and goes until 5pm.

Q: How do I make sure that my child is in the same group as their friends or bubble friends?

A: Just let us know when you register in the "additional info" section.

Q: How do I contact the Camp Director?

A: Any time you have questions, need to change participant numbers, or just want to say “hello”, please call or email the Camp Director. Please call us at (506) 832-1230 or reach Isabella at camp@hraa.ca.

Q: Who takes care of the medical needs of our campers?

A: Our staff are all First Aid and CPR certified. The Lifeguards will oversee minor medical needs under the Camp Director’s supervision. First Aid kits and supplies are kept at locations throughout the building. The Camp Director will be responsible for accompanying campers to the Hospital if the need arises.

 

Make sure that you have filled out the health section of each camper’s registration so that we are aware of any special needs: diabetes, epilepsy, bee sting allergies,  ADHD, etc. Make sure to inform the Camp Director of any conditions ahead of time. The other major role of the Camp Director is to collect all medications, (i.e. Claritin, Ritalin, etc.), keep them in a safe place, and dispense them as directed by the parents. Make sure that you have provided adequate information on how medication should be dispensed to your child before you leave camp.

 

Q: What do families need to know before they arrive?

A: • You will have received an email letting you know which group your child is in (Group 1 or 2) and informed of their Counsellor’s names.

• Nature Camp is an outdoor program. Campers should come prepared wearing layers, a hat, sunscreen, bug repellent, and rainwear if necessarily. We asked campers to always keep their shirts on when not in the water to prevent sunburn.

• Keep in mind many of our activities are done in the woods, in grassy areas, etc. Clothes and shoes will come home dirty, so campers should bring/wear clothing that you don't mind getting some dirt on.

 

Q: What is a sunscreen/water break?

A: We go through several “sunscreen and water breaks” throughout the day. Counsellors will be calling camper by camper and making sure that they re-apply sunscreen and drink water. Based on previous years experience, it is the best way to make sure they do not get a severe sunburn or get dehydrated.

 

Q: Will you continue with the outdoor activities if it is raining?

A: Yes, we will. We ONLY cancel outdoor activities in the event of a lighting storm. Please make sure to pack extra clothes and shoes.

 

Q: Can I send a phone with my child?

A: This is an electronic-free zone! We encourage the kids to spend as much time in the great outdoors as possible!
