December 16th, 2021 - Riverkeepers Hardness

In our Riverkeepers Class, we use the Water Rangers kits to test the water's hardness! While that may sound like an oxymoron, water can indeed be hard (and we're not talking about ice fishing either )

Water hardness is determined by the amount of dissolved minerals in the water, especially calcium, magnesium, and sometimes iron. There are many homes within the watershed who have hard water based on the surrounding geology, particularly gypsum and limestone deposits!
