October 8th, 2021 - Wood Turtles!!

While doing field work, our staff came across an absolutely beautiful sight- not one, but TWO wood turtles hanging out in the Hammond River Watershed!

Did you know that it is estimated that there are only approximately 12,000 wood turtles left in the entire country?

That makes this sighting that much more exciting! In order to protect these two turtles, we will not be disclosing the location that they were found. Should you ever come across a wood turtle, we recommend that you remain hands-off, and any pictures that you take, to please not identify their location to avoid any poaching activity!
