March 24th, 2022 - Tick Awareness

Ticks love living in wooded areas, tall grass, bushes, and leaves. They become active (and hungry!) once the temperatures reach above 4 degrees Celsius
Check yourself and your pets after outdoor adventures- if you find a tick, use fine pointed tweezers to grasp the tick as close to the skin or site of attachment as possible. Gently pull the tick straight out with steady, even pressure (don't twist it). Place the removed tick in a sealed bag with a moist cotton ball, wash your hands and the site of attachment, and contact your veterinarian or local health department. If a rash appears, take a picture, write down any symptoms you are feeling, and contact your health care provider immediately.
