ABOUT HAMMOND RIVER ANGLING ASSOCIATION (HRAA): The HRAA’s mandate is to protect and preserve the Hammond River watershed through education, conservation and community interaction. This membership-based group is an affiliate of the Atlantic Salmon Federation and the NB Salmon Council, provincial watershed and environmental groups, community organizations and schools throughout the region.  The HRAA also runs an environmental summer camp, school education programs and community education volunteer activities to promote watershed stewardship.

Ecological Technician

The Ecological Technician (Eco Tech) reports directly to the Project Manager. The Eco Tech undertakes operational activities required to fulfill the requirements of ongoing Projects at HRAA including water quality monitoring, sample collection and transportation of samples to/from laboratory, entering environmental data into databases and interpreting, etc... This is a 40 hour per week, seasonal position starting as early as April 15th, 2024. Please email resumes to office@hraa.ca

Camp Lifeguard

The Lifeguard will be responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, coordinating, and supervising waterfront activities at the Hammond River Nature Camp.  They will provide a safe environment for all campers and staff. They will perform safety and security checks regularly and ensure that rules and regulations are understood and followed. They will oversee the care of waterfront equipment, including floats, first aid kit, spinal board, and other life preserving equipment.  The Lifeguard will keep the waterfront tidy and clean. They will get training in other activities related to the environmental program like fishing, tree-planting and fly-tying, among others.

Camp Ecological Technician

The Camp Ecological Technician (Eco Tech) will work on a variety of projects in the Hammond River Watershed including wetland monitoring, riparian restoration, water quality testing and fish stock assessments. Tasks may include water sampling, analyzing wetland function, tree-planting, tagging fish, and site preparation for wetland restoration efforts. They will be provided as well with the opportunity to work with The Hammond River Nature Camp by delivering environmental and fishing-related programs to Day Campers aged 5-12. The skills learned in this position would be very useful to a career in environmental biology, biology, forestry, or the fisheries.

Camp Counsellor

The Day Camp Counsellor will be responsible for delivering environmental, recreational, and fishing-related programs to Day Campers aged 5-12 attending the Hammond River Nature Camp. Activities from previous years include tree-planting, insect collecting/identifying, fishing, fly-tying, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, sports, field games, wetland tours, wildlife identification, environmental education and environmental clean-up activities.

Camp Recreation Program Leader

The Recreation Program Leader (RPL) will be responsible for creating and delivering environmental, recreational and fishing-related programs to Day Campers aged 5-12 attending the Hammond River Nature Camp. They will be tasked with planning, organizing and delivering a summer-long program for the children, teaching them about fisheries and forest conservation.  Programs from previous years include tree-planting, insect collecting & identifying, fishing, fly-tying, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, sports, field games, wetland tours, wildlife identification, environmental education and environmental clean-up activities. The Recreation Program Leader will coordinate the Day Camp Counsellors’ activities and ensure the programming is educational and entertaining.
